Fire + Ice Ultra — 250 km, Iceland’s toughest foot race Enter 2027
A week on and I am still buzzing from the experience. The course was not just spectacular but also very well marked, and the support team were all fun yet professional in ensuring our safety (if not comfort!) in the Highlands.
Alex · 2026 finisher
We showed up as strangers, but left as friends, united through the bond of suffering.
Konan Stephens · 2026 finisher
I’ll recommend the Fire and Ice to everyone. Especially those who hate their feet and feel the need to be punished. Legends, the lot of you.
Matt Spashett · 2026 finisher
I wanted to thank you all from the bottom of my heart — the technical and medical staff, and all the amazing runners with whom I had the honour of sharing this wonderful adventure.
Alexander Bertuccioli · 2026 finisher
It was my privilege to meet so many amazing, warm and special people. I cried leaving the restaurant. It felt like leaving family.
Michel · 2026 finisher
Massive thanks to the crew for an amazing job of looking after us.

Getting to
Race HQ

Race HQ is in Akureyri, northern Iceland — not Reykjavík. Most competitors travel with All-Iceland, our official partner since 2012, and we strongly recommend you do too.

Why we push this

We use All-Iceland for all our own logistics and for Team Fire + Ice travel, because it saves us money and a great deal of time and trouble. Each year the majority of competitors book with them for the same reasons.

At least 90% of the travel problems we hear about each year come from people who booked it themselves. Some are minor — an unexpected extra cost is common — but some have missed the start, and some have left early. All of it was avoidable.

We used to be more subtle about this. We are being blunt now to prevent the emergency calls we get in the 24 hours before we leave for the centre of Iceland.

What ABTA and ATOL bonding means for you

All-Iceland is a specialist tour operator with Icelandic staff, based in the UK, and is ABTA and ATOL bonded. Book your international flight together with your travel in Iceland to Race HQ as one package, and if the international flight is delayed and you miss your internal connection and other arrangements, All-Iceland will re-arrange and sort it out with you.

Book the international flight yourself and any problems caused by delays to it are your responsibility — that flight is not covered by the bond, and neither are the knock-on effects. If it was not booked by All-Iceland, neither we nor they have any authority to change, rebook or influence the booking. The same goes for accommodation, trips and especially car hire.

In 2019 several competitors booked directly with WOW air, which ceased trading shortly before the event. They lost their money. Had they booked the package with All-Iceland, they would have been covered.

Flight margins are tiny — around £5 a ticket — so it is not a profit-making sale for All-Iceland. The advantage is being inside a protected package where things can be fixed when they go wrong.

Because they know the programme

All-Iceland manage all the race accommodation and logistics, which leaves us free to deliver the event. They know exactly where you need to be and when, and with Icelandic staff they know everything you might need to know about the country.

They can also arrange extra time before or after the race, and travel for friends and family joining you for the finish. See the family travel package.
